The Spaghetti Western Database
The Spaghetti Western Databaseis a wiki-powered encyclopedia of Italian western cinema, which includes reviews, DVD news, articles, pictures, videos and more. It is accompanied by a message board. It was started by Sebastian Haselbeck in 2004 and has since grown into the internet’s only comprehensive, searchable and community-edited encyclopedia of its kind. It has brought together genre experts and afficionados from all around the globe, adding to its pages numerous reviews, articles and general information on over 800 movies week after week. Some of its editors have traveled to movie locations in Spain in the summer of 2008. The message boards serve as an opinion and information exchange about the films, locations, available versions, lost material and screenings. American director Quentin Tarantino calls it his favorite website (‘aside from porn”). It uses Facebook and Twitter to reach out to younger audiences, as the films in question disappeared forever from movie theaters in the early 80s.
